Looking for adventure this summer?  You’re not the only one!

Here are four adventurous destinations that 1) are perfect in summer, 2) are full of adventurous activities, 3) I haven’t been to yet!

Fort William, Scotland

Scotland may have cold and cloudy weather for most of the year, but in summer, the sky opens up to reveal sunshine.  If you’re looking for adventure in Scotland, there’s no better destination than Fort William, home to beautiful lakes and mountains.

With activities like whitewater rafting, canoeing, and climbing Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK, Fort William is an ideal spot for adrenaline seekers!  Just make sure to wash it all down with some whiskey and a big plate of haggis.

Crested Butte, Colorado

A lot of people head to the Colorado Rockies to ski down them — but it can be just as fun to climb up them summer!  Crested Butte is one of the best mountain biking destinations in the United States, and Crested Butte is also a great place to hike during the summer.

In fact, people love Crested Butte so much that they come back every summer for weeks or months at a time.  If you’re going to be spending a lot of time here, make sure you get annual trip travel insurance to protect you in case of mishaps.

Queenstown, New Zealand

Speaking of mountains and skiing, why not leave summer altogether and head for the slopes?  Queenstown is one of the world’s best adventure travel destinations, and visiting from June through September has the added bonus of snow!

Take advantage of the weather to go skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, or try something more adventurous, like bungee jumping — it was invented here!

Baños, Ecuador

You might not have heard of this little town in Ecuador, but many of my travel blogger friends have.  The draw of Baños, besides its eponymous hot springs?  Adventure sports at ridiculously low prices.  You can jump off a bridge for $20.  For just a bit more, you can go whitewater rafting, paragliding, horseback riding, and more.

In a small town like Baños, where the medical facilities may not be up to your personal standards, make sure you have single trip travel insurance to cover you in case of emergency.

No matter where you go this summer, this world is rich with opportunities for adventure.  Go nuts!
