How to Enjoy Koh Phi Phi: Get on the Water!
The overwhelming volume of tourists makes it difficult to enjoy Koh Phi Phi.
So, how do you enjoy the island?
Get away — and out on the water.
The best part about Koh Phi Phi was renting boats: first, we rented a kayak to explore the area, and second, chartered a longtail boat to visit Koh Phi Phi Leh, where The Beach was filmed.
Out on the water, you’re away from the crowds and can do pretty much whatever you want!
The views are out of this world, too.
Maybe you feel like swimming in the Andaman Sea. Maybe you feel like snorkeling a bit.
Or maybe you just want to stand on your longtail boat while blasting “I’m On A Boat” from your iPhone, then take pictures of yourselves jumping into the water.
There are a few other good things to do on Koh Phi Phi. Climbing up the tsunami escape route to see the views is really cool. We had some great Italian food at Cosmic Restaurant. And God knows that if you’re looking for a knock-down, drag-out party night in Thailand, Koh Phi Phi is the island for you!
But to really experience Phi Phi, get out on the water. Just you and your friends, away from the crowds. You’ll be glad you did.

At age 26, I quit my job to travel the world alone. I spent six fantastic months in Southeast Asia and turned my travel blog into a full-time business. Today, I travel full-time, going anywhere that sounds wacky or beautiful or interesting. My goal is to show YOU how you can travel the world on your own -- easily, safely, and adventurously.

I think being out there in a longtail boat would be so fun! Was there a lot to see while snorkeling?
You know my fear of fish! There were actually some cool-looking blue and yellow fish. And I shocked myself by how much I enjoyed the experience. Then I saw a bunch of giant black fish on the bottom, so I got scared and got back in the boat. Matt and Hannes loved it, though!
Ummm, I’m uber jealous at the moment! You look so glam in that 1st pic.
We stayed at a separate resort up at the end of the island..got there by long tail boat. It was expensive but lovely and a great restaurant there right on the beach. We went down to the town one day just as two cruise ships disgorged their passengers..we lasted about 2hours and headed back to our little cabin and peace LOL
Dying to see your pics of Kho Lanta…was my fave stop on the trip.
