Robert Verdi “Tweet This!” Getaways Party! With a GIVEAWAY!

A few weeks ago, I never would have guessed that I would be attending one of Robert Verdi’s famous parties in New York City!

For those of you who don’t know him, Robert Verdi is a style guru — he’s famous when it comes to fashion, design and pop culture, crossing genres like few others.  For example, he’s not only Eva Longoria’s stylist, he also planned her wedding…and designed her home.  You can see his antics first-hand on The Robert Verdi Show on Logo.

And what a party it was.  I was sitting between representatives from Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post and The Frisky.  Really — Cosmo, HuffPost, The Frisky and Adventurous Kate?

“How many writers are on staff at Adventurous Kate?” Cosmo asked me.

“Um, just the one, actually…” I replied.

This party, held at Robert’s Luxe Laboratory, was for prominent travel tweeters, which is why I was invited.  You all know me…if nothing else, my life is about travel and Twitter!

During the party, Robert introduced his favorite travel-related items and we tweeted them to our followers.

Here are a few of my favorites:

For the Coastal Traveler: LeTarte Bikini

To be frank, I was surprised that they gave us actual bathing suits (pictured above) — I think ALL women know how difficult it is to find a bathing suit that actually fits!

That said, the people at LeTarte, based in Maui, build suits that can be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, but also fit non-models’ bodies.  Mine fit me INCREDIBLY well — and that was a shock.  As someone who usually buys $20 bathing suits from H&M, I can see the value in splurging on a bikini from a brand like LeTarte.  I’d love to rock it in Thailand.

Robert: “Who wears two-pieces?” [Several of us raise our hands.] “Who wears one-pieces?” [The others raise their hands.] “WHY DO YOU DO THAT?!?!?!”

For the Trend-Setting Traveler: Samsonite Bright Lights 24″ Spinner

This is the ideal carry-on bag: a hard case, a secure interior, 360-degree wheels (a godsend in airports), and a TSA-approved lock.  Best of all, it comes in bright blue and hot pink!

If you travel to Vegas as often as I do, you need a quality carry-on that won’t stop you from arriving at your limo within 10 minutes of your landing.  This one gets the job done.

For the Radiant Traveler: Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer with SPF 50

I scrimp on lots of things, but never on skincare products.  You shouldn’t, either.  But this Neutrogena moisturizer is not only great quality, it’s affordable, too.  I love this product because it gives you great protection, it’s unisex, and it’s less than three ounces, so you can bring it in your carry-on bag.

I will be giving away a copy of Lonely Planet: New England Trips to an Adventurous Kate reader.

I’ve lived in New England nearly my entire life.  It’s a cliche thing to say, but New England truly has something for everyone.  My corner of the world is a wonderful place to visit, and this guide contains guides to several of my favorite places:

  • So-hip-it-hurts Portsmouth, New Hampshire
  • Gorgeous beaches of Cape Ann, Massachusetts
  • Surprisingly fabulous Providence, Rhode Island
  • Guilty pleasure casinos in Connecticut
  • Quaint seaside villages in Maine
  • Pristine mountain towns in Vermont
  • My home: Boston, Massachusetts!

You’ll also find themed itineraries for road trips, from lighthouse-climbing in Maine to foliage-viewing in Vermont to diner-hopping in Massachusetts!

Would you like to win your own copy?

To enter the competition, leave a comment on this post and become a fan of Adventurous Kate on Facebook.  One winner will be selected randomly and announced next week.  Good luck!

I received these complimentary items, among others, courtesy of Robert Verdi, Inc.

How exciting to go to a press/fashion event. I worked in the beauty industry and it was always fabulous when I got to meet all editors from the fashion books. That being said, I totally agree with the skincare advice. I have been putting sun screen on my face since I was 15 (now 27). I know my older self will adore me. Fan on your FB and happy commentator! 🙂
