You’re Invited to the Blog House in Costa Brava, Spain!

I have a very exciting announcement to share: this September, several top bloggers and I are hosting a blog house in Costa Brava, Spain!

TBEX Europe, the travel blogger conference, is taking place September 21-23 in Girona, Spain, the main city in the Costa Brava region.  But the real fun is before the conference!

From September 18-20, we will be renting out a gorgeous villa in the charming town of Besalu, about a 40-minute drive from Girona.  The photos in this post are from Besalu — as you can see, it’s gorgeous!

The other bloggers in our group:

Michael Hodson of Go, See, WriteCailin O’Neil of Travel Yourself and The Taste of TravelMichael Tieso of Art of Backpacking, and Stephanie Yoder of Twenty-Something Travel.

What we have in common: we are all full-time travel bloggers who have been in the game for more than two years.  So it’s fair to say that we’re doing something right.  Michael, Cailin, Michael, and Stephanie are bloggers I admire greatly as well as close friends of mine.  You’ll love them.

What’s Included?

For 2.5 days, you get to luxuriate at this gorgeous villa and get personal guidance on how to become a better blogger.  Are you doing well in one aspect, but struggling in some others?  We’ll identify the issues where you can be stronger and help you achieve them.

Beyond that, we’ll invite you to pick our brains and show how we’ve built our blogs to where we are today.

Also — there are surprises.  🙂

Is this expensive?

Not at all.  The lodging in the villa is free, and the instruction that we’re giving is free.  We’re charging a fee that covers food and a few overhead costs — that’s it.

Yep, the five of us are making absolutely no money from this.

Should You Apply?

Hell yes, you should apply!  We’re trying to put together the best house possible.  The only requirement is that you want to become a better travel blogger.

If you’ve been blogging for three years, I want you to apply.  If you’ve been blogging for a month and a half, I want you to apply!

Want More Information?

Whether you want to apply to our blog house or just want more information, please leave a comment on this post.  Your emails are invisible to the public, but I see them — I’ll make sure the information gets sent your way.

UPDATE: The deadline has passed.  Many thanks to all who applied!

Sounds awesome! Feel like Mr. Weekend In Paris will have to cheer me on if I get to do this – chance to pick all your brains for a few days would be priceless! What else do I need to do besides leave my comment here to apply? Stand on my head? Will do!
    Fingers crossed!
    Cheers,
    Priscilla

  3. Sounds awesome, Kate. I’d love to hear more about it. That’s about the time that I was planning on setting off for another adventure, so it would work out great for me 🙂

Do you need more information from me?

  4. Heather says:

Hey! I’d love to come but I have a Mon-Fri English teaching job and am living all the way in Taiwan! I’ve only been blogging for a few months but I really enjoy it and have more pageviews than I ever thought I would, not that it’s a lot compared to you guys! I don’t know if I can afford it time or money wise so I guess I’m just wondering what you think of my blog and how plausible this trip might be for me from your end? Thanks!!

  5. Victoria says:

Ooooh, I want to come to this so much! Am currently doing all I can to get a ticket from Peru. It’s looking good so fingers crossed. Would be such an awesome experience!

  6. Katherina says:

Oh I really want to go, but I’ve got another event in London those exact dates 🙁 I understand you’ll also be in TBU in Porto though, so I’m sure we´ll get to meet there earlier that month!

  7. Gigi says:

Interesting! Is the villa dog-friendly? I travel with my therapy pooch.

  8. John O'Nolan says:

You should put me in your blog house, because I’m hilarious – and sexy – and modest.

No way, this lines up perfectly with my trip to Barcelona before Oktoberfest! I’m about to embark on my first Round the World trip and this is totally the kick in the butt my travel blogging needs to get moving. Where do I sign up!

  11. Wish I could apply! My job in Yellowstone won’t be finished until the end of September though. Look forward to reading about the experience!

Hi all! @goeverywhere, here. I would loveee to hear more about your blog house opportunity! I am a full time software engineer who has taken a break to travel / live abroad for a few years in the past. I haven’t blogged professionally, but honestly I’m not quite sure how! I always write about my experiences in one way or another and would love to learn how you turn that into a full-time gig! One day maybe I can go back to living a nomadic life of adventure!!! I miss it so..
Please let me know what goes into your decision and how to apply 🙂

  14. OK, I’m doing it! I’m going to apply. I’m leaving less than 2 weeks later for my career break RTW trip. This is too perfect! BTW, I went to Mostar last year and I totally loved your post.

  17. Martino says:

    Hi Kate,

I am the publishing editor of The Travel Magazine. We get around 40,000 page views and have over 460,000 twitter followers. I’m familiar with the Emilia Romagna BlogVille project and regret I didn’t manage to go. So if this is a similar idea, I’d love participate. Let me know if there are spaces available and what is expected in return.

    Cheers,
    Martino

  18. Worldtraveller2 says:

    Kate
I would love the information. I am currently on the cusp of beginning a travel blog. I have traveled to 33 countries so far, and have the Cinque Terre, Italy, Istanbul, Turkey, Aqaba and Petra, Jordan planned for October and Zihuatanejo, Mexico planned for December. I just returned three days ago from Ecuador (GYE, CUE, QUIOTO, side trip to Montañita and Chordeleg) and Lima, Peru. I am excited about this new business and just got my first job as a travel photographer in Italy. That is why I will spend a week in the Cinque Terre (Nervi) in OCT. I am also a travel hacker, so my travel blog will be two fold. One as trip destinations and the other as how to get there at pennies on the dollar. Any advise I could receive before beginning or as I am starting my website from experienced bloggers would be great! I am a physician by trade, but am ready to start my travel blogging career!

  19. Susan says:

  26. Liz says:

Hi! I am definitely interested in applying! I am a travel blogger based in northern Spain, but I have never been to the costa brava! It’s relatively easy for me to get out there, especially as I was planning to attend the conference anyway! Could you send me info on how to apply?

  27. Izy Berry says:

I’ve been writing a travel blog for the last six months while travelling through Asia, and I’m really excited to improve on my skills with the guidance of you guys. Hope I can still apply for a place in the house!
